Prowl H2O herbicide can now be used to control weeds in adzuki, snap and lima beans. The labeled rate of 2.37 L per ha ( 0.95 L/ac) applied preplant incorporated (PPI) will control the following weed species.
| Broadleaf Weeds | Grassy Weeds |
| Lamb’s-quarters1 (suppression only) | Barnyard grass |
| Redroot pigweed1 (suppression only) | Crabgrass (large and smooth) |
| Green foxtail | |
| Yellow foxtail |
General Precautions
- Prowl H2O can be applied in a minimum of 200 L water per ha but do not apply after planting adzuki, snap and lima beans as crop injury may occur.
- Do not apply Prowl H2O herbicide to adzuki beans within 90 days of harvest, to snap beans within 50 days of harvest and lima beans within 80 days of harvest.
These minor use submissions were sponsored in 2010 by the minor use office of OMAFRA in response to priorities identified by producers and extension personnel in Canada. Additional data supporting these projects was provided by Dr. Darren Robinson, Dr. Peter Sikkema and D. Bilyea, (University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus) and Todd Cowan (University of Guelph, Huron Park Research Station).
Weed control is an important component of snap, lima and adzuki production and has been identified as a priority by producers for several years. The registration of Prowl H2O herbicide is an important step towards improving the weed management and resistance management toolkit.
